Artist Bio:
Cuban born Sound/Recording engineer, musician and artist began his career early as a musician playing guitar by the age of 8 yrs. old. He started at the SBCAT (South Bronx Community Action Theatre) which was at P.S. 5 in the South Bronx playing Spanish Classical music taught by Cuban countryman Juan Gonzalez. In his teen years he studied art at the infamous H.S. of Art & Design where he began his DJing career in 1976 with good friend DJ Saint Pete (Pete Melendez - Saint Pete Systems). In 1995 T.A.C.E. Entertainment (formerly Lizard Central T.A.C.E. (The Afro-Cuban Experience) was born and the world-beat and Latin sound was introduced to a lot of his projects as well as his own. He also got together with his old friend Saint Pete to become his sound engineer and tech for live sound in 1998. He continued working with him even today. He has worked with acts like the Johnny Ray, Grupo Niche, Willie Colon, El Canario, Harlem Salsa Orchestra, Ray Sepulveda, Oscar De Leon, Conjunto Imagen, Johnny Polanco, Conjuto Milenio, Jimmy Bosch, the Lebron Bros., DJ Henry Knowles, DJ Nelson Torres, Kevin Sevallo, La India, Masters at Work, etc. and events like the Japan to New York Music Festival, the Trenton Puerto Rican Day Parade Festival, the NYC, Jersey City, Trenton, Connecticut & Philadelphia Puerto Rican Day Parades, NYC, Boston, Connecticut, Philadelphia, Maryland, D.C. Salsa Congresses and corporations like Chase Manhattan Bank, Nike and Barcardi. He has also worked with electronic music legend and artist John Blackford. Sal continues to DJ, putting out cds like Everything Starts Tomorrow, Basement Gathering, Sal's Urban Sex Mix, 3rd Avenue Hustle, Buena Vista Avenue Freedom, Mardhmellow Day, Before Midnight & After Midnight, A Hard Night and more. Sal has DJayed at clubs like Club Exit, Roxy's, Cielo, 40/40, Hammerstein Ballroom, Le Bar Bat, Soho 323 Moomia Lounge, La Gloria and Monster. Or at events like WMC and the NYC Hustle Congress.
